OUR PAST Active Ingrediants started in 1992. We recorded our first demo in 1993, Beer City Records picked us up and released that recording as a "Self Titled" 7" record early in 1994. The band went on a 5-week tour to support the record. At the end of 1994 the band was featured on the Looney Bin Records comp. Later that year we went into the studio to record "The Curse of Madame C" 7" for Beer City Records, released early 1995. We planned a tour for summer 1995 but the booking agent turned out to be a liar and the tour fell through. Late 1995 we went to Smart Studios in Madison, WI to record a full length (C.D. and cassette) for Beer City Records, titled "Every Thing Sucks" (We had this title before the Desendence did). It was released early 1996 and was featured as the Thrasher Magazines give away when you subscribe promo in March 1996. Summer 1996 we went on a 2-month tour to promote Everything Sucks. Later in 1996 Active Ingrediants was featured on the Punk Wish comp. C.D. all the proceeds were donated to the Make A Wish Foundation for dying kids. 1997 Active was featured on the Possible Problems comp. C.D. In 1998 our long time friend, vocalist, and bass player Scott got married and quit the band while we were recording "The Balls Out Way Of Life". We couldn't find anybody we liked or trusted to take his place, so Dennis traded in his guitar equipment for bass gear, turning us into a 3 piece. In 2000 we went back into the studio, the first time as a 3-piece to recorded some new songs for a Beer City Records comp. and a My Own Wallet Records comp. both released in 2001. Also durring 2000, our long time friend and drummer Ben got a job building skate parks around the world so he quit the band. A few drummers filled in until we met Javier. |

THE BIG CHANGE I think the biggest accomplishment of them all happened in late 2000. An old friend invited me to Valley Bible Fellowship so I went. I didn't know why but I felt peace there so I kept going every Sunday. Every time I went it made more and more sense to me, after about 3 months I gave my life to God. I was still playing shows with the band but somehow it didn't feel right anymore. During this time I was talking with the rest of the band and praying for them, I even put our band name up on the prayer board at church. Eventually my good friend and bass player of the band Dennis got saved. Dennis and I decided to put it all on the altar for God, us our music and our band. In May 2001 we went out to the foothills and burned all the Balls Out Way of Life CDs we were promoting at that time. The drummer at that time didn't really seem to care about the direction we wanted to go with the band so we got rid of the guy. Two days later we met our new drummer Javier at Valley Bible. Summer 2001 I locked myself in my room with my guitar and my bible and wrote a bunch of new songs. The 3 of us got together and practiced the new songs for a couple of months. Active Ingrediants started playing shows again in November 2001 as a Christian hardcore band. In 2002 we recorded and released a 5 song e.p. titled "150 Demo" because the recording cost $150. In 2003 we recorded the full length "The Hymns of Holyhardcore". We went on a 3 month tour (with the e-tour) 2 days after Hymns was released (May 2003). We also toured with the e-tour for a month in 2004 and a month in 2005. In addition to touring we played 2-4 gigs a week from 2002 -2006, it was the bussiest the band had ever been. At the beginning of 2006 we started recording a new full length. At some point (in 2006), it felt like the band ran it's course so we ended it. The "final" full length was never finished. All tracks were recorded but not mixed. It might get finished one day?
